Jennifer Coolidge (‘The White Lotus’) speaks out about the US writers’ strike after winning an MTV Movie Award and makes her position clear

Jennifer Coolidgeone of the main protagonists of ‘The White Lotus’, has received the MTV Award for ‘Comedy Genius’and has seized his moment to Defend the American Writers Strike that has the country’s film industry on edge.

The actress, who has reached the pinnacle of stardom thanks to the Mike White series, after a very long career bringing secondary characters to life, showed the award in a video uploaded to Twitter by the MTV account and was grateful for having been awarded.

“Almost all good comedies start with great writers and I think as a member of the SAG, I stand with you tonight, side by side with my sisters and brothers at the WGA. (Writers Guild of America),” the actress commented. “They’re fighting right now, fighting for the rights of writers everywhere.”

“I think, as Shakespeare once said, ‘it’s the performance that matters,'” he continued. “I don’t want to put words in her mouth or anything, but I think what she really meant was that she is everything!“

In addition, Coolidge also took advantage of the couple of minutes she had to thank MTV for giving her this recognition, which puts her on a par with some of its previous winners, such as Jack Black, Sacha Baron Cohen or Kevin Hart.

“Thank you MTV. Coolidge’s endorsement of the writers doesn’t come out of nowhere. He arrives immediately after the cancellation of the ‘Saturday Night Live’ program that he had yet to present, and whose production has been halted due to the strike.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards gala itself went from being a live event to a broadcast of recorded clips. This happened because Drew Barrymore, in charge of conducting the ceremony, sympathized with her fellow writers and refused to present the event.

“I have listened to the writers and, out of respect for them, I will not be hosting the MTV Movie & TV Awards,“commented the actress and presenter in a statement.
