Palmira Nery da Silva Onofre, known as Palmirinha, was an example of strength and perseverance throughout her life. She went through an abusive relationship with her mother and her husband and her last battle was with chronic kidney disease. Sandra Bucci, daughter of the presenter, cried a lot remembering her mother at her wake on the morning of Monday 8.
“I mean, he struggled. She fought from 11 to now as hard as she had to stay, but she couldn’t. This time she was defeated. The one battle she couldn’t win was this one. It was the disease that took her away from us », her daughter said at the press conference.
Palmirinha died on Sunday morning, 7, at the Paulista Unit of the Alemão Oswaldo Cruz Hospital, where she had been hospitalized since April 11. The presenter’s body is buried in Morumby Cemetery, São Paulo, in a ceremony open to the public until 1pm.
The presenter, according to her daughter, tried to remain independent, even facing the disease. She moved into a building opposite Sandra’s apartment, and she had carers 24 hours a day. The family was always on the alert.
Sandra emphasizes that her mother lives fully, did everything she wanted and left a great lesson for all her fans. “In her last fight, she left a lesson for us and for the little friends she had. A lesson in strength, in struggle. Fight people, even if you know the result of this battle, fight to the end”, Sandra concluded excitedly.
