The walk passes under the famous Ponte Vecchio
The Italian city of Florence, known throughout the world for its Renaissance beauties, has gained a new tourist attraction: an electric mini-cruise lasting about an hour along the Arno River.
The “Arnoboat” sailed for the first time on 6 May and will be available until 30 September, with eight trips a day between 10.30am and 9.30pm.
The inaugural visit was attended by the Consul General of the United States in Florence, Ragini Gupta, and various representatives of civil society.
Driven by two electric motors and self-sufficient, the boat sails through the historic center of the city and passes under the Ponte Vecchio, one of the postcards of the Tuscan capital with its houses suspended over the Arno.
With tickets for 25 euros (R$137), the tour also offers commentary in Italian and English on Florentine history and traditions.
“This project comes from far away, when I was a student in Paris and experienced the great tradition of French river navigation.
I dreamed of creating a small bateau mouche in Florence, my city”, said Daniela Ghirelli, creator of the project together with Gianni Margheriti. .
