“I’ve felt, more than ever and in my own flesh, what it means to be a woman. And what it truly means to be a woman. This has been a year where I realized that we are stronger than we know. We are braver than we think and, it seems to me that we are more independent than we have been taught to be. There comes a time in every woman’s life when she is no longer dependent on someone liking or accepting herself. I think there is a time in every woman’s life when the search for the other is replaced by the search for oneself,” said the singer.
Finally, he even dedicated the award to his mother, Nidia Ripoll. “It doesn’t matter so much if someone is faithful to you or not, what matters is that you remain true to yourself. For them, for you, I wrote what I wrote and sang what I sang, because only a woman is capable to love until it tears apart. Only a woman can speak with the most brutal honesty, and sing with rage, and dance with ecstasy, and be moved until the tears fall. Only a woman can do that!”
