The New Yorker published an article by well-known journalist John Mehringer. It was he who helped Prince Harry write his scandalous memoirs called Spare. Mehringer is also the author of The Gentle Bar and the autobiography of Andre Agassi and Nike founder Phil Knight, for which he received the prestigious Pulitzer Prize for Journalism. John said that it was not easy for him to help the stars write their memoirs. The journalist noted that working with Prince Harry was not easy. Mehringer recalled that he once argued with the son of the king about the next edits.
Prince Harry pissed me off. My head was pounding, my jaw was clenched, and I began to raise my voice. And yet, a part of me was still able to step out of the situation and think, “How strange this is. I’m yelling at Prince Harry.” Then, as Harry started yelling back at me, as his cheeks turned red and his eyes narrowed, the thought came to mind, “Wow, this could all end right here.” I thought that I would be suspended from work on the book shortly after dawn. I could almost hear the awkward phone conversation with Agent Harry and I was sad,” Mehringer wrote.
Prince Harry approached John in 2020 to help write his memoir. Then the writer was already going to end his career as a ghostwriter of celebrity memoirs, but he could not refuse the monarch.
I was wondering what his real story is, will we have any chemistry. And we did, and I think there was an amazing reason for that. Princess Diana had died 23 years before our first conversation, and my mother, Dorothy Meringer, had just died, and our sorrows were equally fresh. In retrospect, I think I selfishly jumped at the opportunity to talk to someone who can be called an expert in the enduring desire to call my mother, who is no more, the writer noted.

Mehringer also liked that the prince did not give him a clear deadline and communicated with him at ease. As a result, the writer got acquainted with all the close circle of the monarch and repeatedly visited his house and even saw his children.
I just liked this dude. I immediately called him a dude, which made him chuckle. His story, when he outlined it, struck me as both interesting and infuriating at the same time. The way he was treated, both by strangers and loved ones, was absurd,” he said.
On May 6, the coronation of Charles III took place in Westminster Abbey. Prince Harry still attended the ceremony. After the monarch hurried to leave London and flew home to his wife Meghan Markle. There he was expected for an important event: on the same day, their eldest heir, Archie, turned 4 years old. King Charles III also congratulated his grandson on his 4th birthday.
