The black streak in the life of Johnny Depp seems to be behind. After a years-long legal battle with Amber Heard and the subsequent “cancellation” in Hollywood, Depp is back on the screen. And not only in the movies. According to Variety, the French fashion house and cosmetics mogul Dior, who all this time supported the actor and his shaky reputation, made Johnny an offer that he could not refuse – to become the brand’s new ambassador for an impressive fee. The amount of the deal was not disclosed by the official representatives of the parties, but the publication’s insiders assure that the amount of the three-year contract exceeds $20 million – more than 1.5 billion rubles!

Such an impressive figure is an unprecedented case in the history of cooperation between perfume brands and stars. Until recently, the record was held by Robert Pattinson, who received 12 million as a spokesman for Dior Homme. Behind him is Brad Pitt for the Chanel No. 5 he was paid only 7 million, almost three times less than Depp is now.

Johnny Depp in the advertising company Dior, 2015

By the way, Johnny collaborated with Dior before. In 2015, the Pirates of the Caribbean star became the face of Dior Sauvage. Then the advertising campaign relied on his image of a wild rocker. And this campaign was very successful until the sad events of 2020, when a British court ruled against Depp in his libel suit against The Sun. Then Johnny got the image of an unbalanced man beating his wife. Under pressure from the public to “cancel” Johnny, Dior was forced to put the relationship with the actor on pause. The talk of partnership returned immediately after his brilliant victory in a lawsuit against Amber Heard.

Note that Depp’s new contract with Dior coincided with his high-profile screening at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival. On May 16, Johnny will attend the world premiere of the historical drama Jeanne du Barry, in which he plays King Louis XV. The actor is expected to attend a Dior dinner on May 17 and travel to London the following day to pay tribute to virtuoso guitarist and seven-time Grammy winner Jeff Beck, who died of meningitis in January of this year. At a concert in his honor, Depp will perform with Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart.
