We all saw how ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ marked an era for us, the world of fashion was portrayed in a caricature by the character Miranda Priestly, but her house was a dream: things as they are. And now this place is for sale, we tell you everything.
Let’s remember the film that marked an era for us, especially the way of seeing fashion from the inside, fortunately in a cartoonish way. Many of us wonder if the newsrooms or the places where the latest trends were cooked were really like that. What’s more, surely many of the editors have directly heard the question: but is it like the devil wears Prada?
What is undeniable are two things: Miranda Priestly was a horror but her house was a dream, that’s right. And it turns out that this wonderful place now is up for sale on the Upper East Side for the modest price of $27.5 million.
The editor of the fictional ‘Runway’, lived in this house in the David Frankel film, adapted from the novel by Lauren Weisberger.
An impressive house available if you have 28 million dollars
The choice of location was the best, without a doubt: on one of the Upper East Side’s best landmark district blocks. The seven-bedroom stone rowhouse at 129 East 73rd Street, between Park and Lex, was designed by Stanford White in 1906, and judging by photos of the interior, it’s in magazine condition, pun intended.
It has five floors plus the full basement that leads to the garden and a mini basketball court on the roof. Famous neighbors include Gloria Steinem, who lives across the street. There’s a little Instagram video about the house here:
Let’s also remember how the protagonist Andrea Sachs (Anne Hathaway) was impressed by entering her boss’s house, with those infinite stairs. We don’t have 28 million dollars to spare but, as they say, dreaming is free.
