Tina Turner passed away on Wednesday at the age of 83 (24) and, now, all eyes in the world turn in anticipation of the farewell of the one who has been anointed as the queen of the world’s rock. In the end, she had been rumored to be preparing a big funeral since 2016, when she was diagnosed with bowel cancer.

According to sources told to the American site RadarOnline, in 2018 Tina intended to turn her wake into the “largest funeral in the history of pop culture”. This magnificence had another reason beyond celebrating her glorious legacy: the rocker presumably wouldn’t accept being overshadowed by Aretha Franklin, his rival since the ’70s. “They were fervent rivals in life, and Tina has no intention of letting Aretha stand out in the face of her death,” commented the portal insider.

Aretha was given queen honors when she departed in August of that year.and had a funeral budgeted for 300 thousand dollars, with the presence of Ariana Grande, Stevie Wonder, Jennifer Hudson and Bill Clinton, former president of the United States.

“Tina is picking out a designer wardrobe for her casket, a custom hearse, a host of top performers, and an incredible tomb that will eclipse Aretha’s”a source told the American tabloid, in 2018.

However, Tina seems to have changed her mind in recent years. According to The Mirror newspaper, the rock star’s wake will be reserved for friends and family only.
