Former Qatari princess Casia Gallanio found dead at home in Spain

Former Princess Casia Gallanio of Qatar has died at the age of 45 at her home in Spain. As El Pais reported the night before, the woman’s body was discovered by the Marbella police. The outfit was called by one of Kasia’s daughters after she didn’t answer her phone for several days. The police entered the house last Sunday at about eight in the morning local time – the concierge of the Playas del Duque residential complex let them in.

So far, it is known that there were no obvious signs of a violent death on the woman’s body. A criminal case has been opened and an investigation of the incident has begun. Previously, investigators believe that one of the versions of the death of the ex-princess is an overdose of prohibited substances.

Kasia Gallanio was known as the third wife of the former oil minister of Qatar, Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al Thani. The 73-year-old sheikh is the uncle of the current Emir of Qatar. Kasia and Abdelaziz met in France, where he has been living in exile since 1992 due to charges of attempting a coup d’état. They got married in 2004, but the marriage quickly fell apart. During this time, the couple had three daughters, whom, after the divorce, she took with her to Spain and fought for ten years for custody of them.

In court, she accused her ex-husband of domestic violence against her and children, as well as sexual harassment of her eldest, 17-year-old daughter. The sheikh denied all accusations, and the court eventually denied custody of Kasia. The girls were given to their father – now they live with him in France.

As the French media wrote, Gallanio recently lived alone, suffered from depression and alcohol addiction.
