The lawyers of Johnny Depp and Amber Heard presented their closing arguments in the trial that confronts the two actors for accusations of mistreatment and defamation, which has been seen for sentencing.

“Before Amber Heard, no woman has said that Mr. Depp has raised his hand to her in his 58 years”, the lawyer told the jury. “This is a #MeToo without any #MeTooChew quipped. Depp’s lawyer said his client supported the movement but only for “true survivors of abuse.”
“Johnny Depp was canceled because Amber Heard falsely accused him of domestic violence”, said Chew, who recognized that the actor “is not a saint either”.
“It is one thing to abuse substances and another to be a physical abuser of women. He admits his faults but he is not a violent aggressor.”
Camille Vasquez, another member of the actor’s legal team, added that the protagonist of “Pirates of the Caribbean” is the real victim of the case. “There is a victim of persistent verbal, emotional, and physical domestic abuse in this courtroom, and it’s not Ms. Heard.Vasquez told the jury.
Vasquez noted that there were no medical records of Heard’s claims of physical abuse, and suggested that she staged the injuries she showed to journalists by manipulating public opinion.
“When she filed for divorce, she not only wanted to break up their marriage, she wanted to ruin it.. Exactly six years later, we ask you to bring Mr. Depp back to life,” he concluded.

Ben Rotterborn has based his final exposition on affirming that his client does not need to prove the accusations, because he is protected by freedom of expression.
The lawyer asked the jury “What message are we sending to Amber Heard and the rest of the victims of domestic abuse if we question the testimony of the actress? If you didn’t take photos, it didn’t happen, and if you did, they’re fake. If she asks for medical attention, she is crazy, and if she decides that enough is enough and she complains, what she is looking for is money…“. He also asked the jury “not to be an accomplice.”
“If Amber was abused just once, she wins the lawsuit. If they think they both abused each other… Then she wins too. And we’re not just talking about physical abuse, but also verbal and emotional abuse.”
Rotterborn refers to the fact that, according to the charges debated in the trial, Depp did not sue Heard for mistreatment but for defamation, so Amber’s alleged abuse of the actor is not an issue on the table (according to lawyer).
Jury verdict. What do they have to decide?
The jury must decide if the opinion piece that Heard wrote for the Washington Post two years ago in which he accused Depp of sexual violence (without naming him), unreasonably ruined the interpreter’s career as he claims. The actress’s legal team relies on freedom of expression and the graphic and verbal testimonies that Heard has provided, while Depp’s lawyers claim that it is all a setup.
