The priest Julius Lancellottiknown for his work with minorities in the Archdiocese of São Paulo, he posted a tweet with a message of support to the LGBTQIA+ community on the night of this Wednesday 28, International pride day.
He tweeted an image of the pride flag, with the following caption written: “‘The Church does not reject them’, those who do are sometimes ‘people in the Church’ because ‘the Church is mother and calls all her children’ , without distinction: ‘a selective, thoroughbred Church is not the Holy Mother Church, but a sect’”.
The message is attributed to Pope Francis and still bears the logo of MAGIS Brasil, the young branch of the Brazilian Jesuits.

In the comments, netizens praised the priest’s attitude. “How much love in one person,” one follower wrote. “The first saint of the capital São Paulo,” said another.
However, not everyone agreed with the placement of the priest. “I love you, but you know it’s not true,” one follower retorted. “Last Days Apostasy! Many give in to pressure, some don’t,” said another, referring to the term which means giving up one’s faith.
