The comment was made in a live broadcast on the presenter’s YouTube channel, this Monday 10, in which she echoed the news of Gabriela’s death. At the time, the presenter said the young woman “took a risk” by joining Mancha Verde Zona Sul, one of Palmeiras’ organized supporters.

“She is from Mancha Verde, she was not at the ticket office upon entering the stadium, she was outside, together with those fans who are outside. She did not deserve to die, of course not, but she risked being there because she was in the organized crowd, she is of the organized crowd,” stressed Leifert.

After the comment, the former presenter of Globo Esporte began to be criticized by internet users on social media and, hours after the broadcast, Leifert returned to social media to apologize for the statement.

In a video posted on his Instagram profile, Tiago appears apologizing for an error which, according to him, was based on the denunciation of those present at the clash, as well as the Military Police and the press.

“I had said that the fan who died, who was murdered, was actually at the clash at Gate A, which happened during the match. Now we know she wasn’t. I read the BO just now, and she was close to the gate D, which is the gate of visits. A bottle organized by Flamengo flew towards the Palmeiras fans, hitting them in the neck. So, I apologize, it was not at match A, which was during the match. It was “bad, but it was already been hit. She was shot before the match near Gate D,” concluded the presenter.

Palmeiras fan dies after being shot

Gabriela Anelli was waiting in line to enter Allianz Parque, Palmeiras’ stadium, when there was a clash between fans of the organized supporters of Palmeiras and Flamengo. Military Police intervened and used pepper spray to disperse the two groups.

According to information provided by the Public Security Secretariat of São Paulo (SSP), Gabriela was hit by a glass bottle in the neck during the scuffle and was taken to hospital in serious condition. She suffered two cardiac arrests and couldn’t resist.

In addition to Gabriela, another person was also injured in the accident. A man suspected of throwing bottles during the fight was arrested in the act.
