The sad news of the death of 23-year-old Palmeiras fan Gabriela Anelli shook the world of Brazilian football on Monday (10/7) and prompted a collective message from three former BBB rival supporters.
Rodrigo Mussi (BBB 22), Ricardo “Alface” Camargo (BBB 23) and Gustavo Marsengo (BBB 22) reacted to the death of the young woman, hit by a glass bottle thrown by a Flamengo fan during the match between the two teams, with an appeal for peace among the fans.
Brothers goal
“Nothing we do will bring Gabriela back to life, nor that of all the people who have already been victims of these football-motivated crimes,” Rodrigo Mussi wrote on his official Instagram account.
“It’s hard to believe that people take their own lives because of a sport. However, it is up to those involved, especially the fans, to do their part, so that this universe is what we most desire and deserve. A place of peaceful coexistence, among all supporters. Rivals or allies, we are all human beings and we must remain such,” added Mussi.
In the photo accompanying the message, the former participants in “Big Brother Brazil” appear united and wearing the shirts of their respective teams: Alface with Corinthians, Mussi with San Paolo and Marsengo with Palmeiras. The image was shared by the three and received several messages in support of the brothers’ initiative.
Ball out of Tiago Leifert
While the former BBB were applauded for the initiative, the former presenter of the reality show, Tiago Leifert, found himself at the center of a controversy by spreading misinformation about Gabriela and the circumstances of her death. During a live broadcast, Leifert claimed that Gabriela was a member of the organized Mancha Verde crowd and that she was outside the stadium at the time of the incident, contributing to the confusion. However, the São Paulo military police denied any connection between Gabriela and the confrontation, confirming that she was in fact a victim and was far from the brawl, in line to enter the game.
After the negative backlash from his statements, the reporter apologized.
