Gigi Hadid he’s a friend, Leah Nicole McCarthy, were arrested for possession of marijuana, according to E! News. The model was traveling to the Cayman Islands on July 10 when she was arrested at Owen Roberts International Airport.

Shortly after Hadid and her friend arrived on a private plane, customs officials found “marijuana and utensils used for marijuana consumption” in their luggage, according to local media Cayman Marl Road.

The two were arrested on “suspicion of importation of marijuana and importation of utensils used for the consumption of marijuana,” the vehicle reports. Gigi and Leah were taken to the Prisoner Detention Center where they were released on bail.

Hadid and McCarthy appeared in court on July 12 and pleaded guilty. Both were fined $1,000, according to Cayman Marl Road. They now face no charges.

“Gigi was traveling with marijuana purchased legally in New York with a medical license,” her rep told E! New this Tuesday (18). “She has also been legal for medical use on Grand Cayman as of 2017. Her record remains clean and she enjoyed the rest of her time on the island.”
