Brad Johnson, ‘Melrose Place’ actor, dies

Actor Brad Johnson, who was the ‘Marlboro Man’ and worked alongside Spielberg, has died at the age of 62

    Brad Johnsoninterpreter famous for his appearances in the series ‘Melrose Place‘ and for starring in Steven Spielberg’s film ‘Always)’ with Richard Dreyfuss, John Goodman and Audrey Hepburn, He passed away on February 18 in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 62.

    The news had not been known until now, when his representative confirmed his death to EW. No further details or cause of death have been released.

    Born in 1959 in Tucson, ArizonaJohnson began his career in show business as cowboy on the professional rodeo circuit. A casting director hired her for a beer commercial, and in the 1980s she chained several jobs in advertising campaigns such as Calvin Klein model and as ‘Marlboro Man’, the iconic character that advertised the cigarette brand. His first role on television was in 1986, in an episode of the series ‘Dallas‘.

    In 1989, Johnson played the role of Ted Baker in ‘Always (Forever)‘, the movie that Spielberg was a remake of ‘Two in the sky‘ (Victor Fleming, 1943). During the 1990s he landed various roles in film and television until he landed the leading role in the western miniseries ‘Ned Blessing: The Story of My Life and Times’ from 1993, a role he repeated in ‘Lone Justice 2’ and ‘Lone Justice: Showdown at Plum Creek’ in 1996.

    It is in that year, 1996, when he manages to become a recurring character in the telenovela ‘Melrose Place‘ as pediatrician Dominick O’Malley.

    Brad Johnson had given up acting and was selling real estate in North Texas. He is survived by his wife Laurie and their 8 children: Shane, Bellamy, Rachel, Eliana, Eden, Rebekah, Annabeth and William.
