Jamie Foxx breaks silence on illness: ‘I didn’t want to be seen like this’

Jamie Foxx broke his silence and spoke about his “medical emergency” for the first time since his sudden hospitalization in April. The actor posted a video on social media earlier this Saturday (22/1), in which he thanked fans for their support and detailed his fight against the disease – which has not yet been specified.

“I can’t even begin to tell you how far it took me and how it brought me back. I went through something I never thought I would,” he said, looking visibly thin.

He confesses that it took him a while to pronounce, because “I didn’t want to be seen like this”. “I want you to see me laughing, having fun, partying, telling a joke, doing a movie or TV show,” she explained. “I didn’t want you to see me with tubes attached to me and trying to figure out if I would survive.”

Though he didn’t reveal what health issue he’s been dealing with, Foxx has denied the rumors that were circulating about his condition. “Some people said I was blind, but as you can see my eyes work very well. They said I’m paralysed, I’m not paralysed,” he stressed. “But I’ve been to hell and back.”

the actor gets excited

While recording, the actor was moved to regret the difficult time. “I’ve been sick, mate. But I’m still now, so you’ll see me around,” he commented. “I just want you to remember me by the jokes I make, the movies I make — some good, some not (I think I have a good one coming out) — and the songs I sing.”

He also thanked the support of his family, who preserved his privacy during his recovery. “They didn’t let anything out. They had their backs to me,” she said. “I just want to say I love everyone and I love all the love I’ve gotten.” Foxx concluded the video by declaring, “I’m coming back.”

Quotes from famous colleagues

In the comments to the publication, several celebrities and close friends of the actor celebrated his improvement. Artists such as singer Justin Timberlake, Dwayne Johnson (“Black Adam”), Michael B. Jordan (“Creed”), Will Smith (“Emancipation”), Viola Davis (“The Woman King”) and Regina Hall (“Honk for Jesus. Save Your Soul”) have left tributes.

“Awww Man,” wrote Will Smith. “Who’s cutting the onions?? Love you Foxx!! Your light is needed and appreciated right now!”

mysterious shelter

The actor was hospitalized on April 11 in the city of Atlanta, USA, where he was filming the action film “Back in Action” on Netflix, in which he stars alongside Cameron Diaz – the film was completed with the help of a stuntman.

Shortly after, the daughter released a statement confirming what happened. “We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, suffered a medical complication yesterday. Thankfully, thanks to the fast acting and excellent care, he is now well on his way to recovery,” she wrote.

In May, the actor first updated the public with a short message posted on Instagram. “Thanks for all the love!!! I feel blessed.” At the time, Foxx’s family said he was “on the mend.”

Go back to work

This past Friday (7/21), TMZ confirmed that the actor was back working on a new commercial for a sports betting app. Foxx even posted a picture of the recordings on social networks. “We have big things coming,” he wrote in the caption.

Recently, he has been seen making public appearances, such as taking a night walking tour of Chicago, sailing a yacht down the Chicago River, and even playing golf. An eyewitness even commented that he won the match, walked normally and talked to friends and family, a sign that he likely experienced no sequelae after spending weeks in hospital.

The golf course is near the rehab clinic where the star is recovering from her mysterious medical emergency. He’s been in the unit since the end of April.
