Andrew Garfield and Zendaya on ‘Spider-Man’, ‘Euphoria’ and their first meeting

On the eve of 38-year-old Andrew Garfield and 25-year-old Zendaya appeared on the cover of a special issue of Variety’s “Actors on Actors” and gave a great video interview. The first thing Garfield asked Zendaya was if she had a hard time filming a particularly tense and emotional episode of Euphoria, such as the scene where her character, troubled teenager Ru, violently swears and fights with her mother over problems with banned substances.

It was really hard. I was very afraid before filming this episode, – the actress admitted, – When it went on the air, many friends wrote to me who checked whether I liked the result.

In turn, Garfield noted that he wanted to sob after watching these scenes.

I didn’t feel like there was any acting. It felt like you were really living this moment,” he said.

However, Zendaya admitted that for such persuasiveness, the team needed to make the maximum number of takes and work until the very night. Note that recently the creators of “Euphoria” were accused of forcing the actors to work overtime, regularly staying for night shoots.

The actress also shared with Andrew that her boyfriend Tom Holland was terribly nervous about filming Spider-Man: No Way Home because he was afraid of comparisons with Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire, who played the role of Peter Parker over the years.

He was terribly worried, because he didn’t want to step on the heels of anyone, ”she said.

Believe me, Toby and I were also worried that Tom would outdo us, – the actor joked.

In addition, while talking, the actors remembered their first meeting. They met on the set of Spider-Man, where they play together with Tom Holland. The actors were emotionally supportive of each other and began to often hang out together in their free time.
