Sandy denounces panic attacks on last tour with Junior: “I didn’t know if I wanted to”

Sandy revealed on Tuesday (15/8) that she had panic attacks backstage at the ‘Nossa História’ tour, held with Junior in 2019. In the podcast ‘Quem Pode Pod’, the singer explained that she is used to a smaller audience in solo career concerts and feared he might not be able to cope with the pop star’s routine.

The argument arose after the presenters Fernanda Paes Leme and Giovanna Ewbank wondered about the phases in which Sandy had to reinvent herself. You, the artist, admitted that you had to reformulate various moments of your life.

“I’ve already had to remake myself. Both in a love relationship that didn’t work out and reinventing myself as an artist. To make the post ‘Sandy & Junior’ move towards a solo career, as well as the transition to solo of Sandy to go on tour with my brother,” he replied.

Then, Sandy recalled that Junior’s concert routine as a duo was intense to the point of arousing emotional triggers. “I was terrified, I didn’t know if I could be that artist again. I had panic attacks, several! There were days where I kept crying and saying, ‘I’m not going to have another rehearsal, I’m not going to have one’ another try… I can’t do it,'” he explained.

“I didn’t know if I could handle the size, this visibility, this attention so focused on us, I didn’t know if I wanted it, it was a big responsibility. And also because the shows lasted two hours and a little [de duração], I had to sing, dance, change clothes, be a pop artist again, out of nowhere, flip that switch. I didn’t know if I could do it again, I was scared, really.”

“Our History” Tour

“Nossa História” was Sandy & Junior’s ninth tour. The emotional farewell marked the brothers reuniting on stage after 12 years of the last run of performances.

The duo returned to the charts with the tour made with immense structures, corps de ballet and nostalgic choreographies of “Dig-Dig-Joy”, “Vâmo Pulá!”, “Eu Acho Que Pirei”, among many others. The performances were recorded in a documentary series with behind-the-scenes details.

The web series “Sandy & Junior: A História” has seven episodes exclusively for Globoplay.
