Diana has landed in Brasilia with the then Prince Charles on the night of April 22, 1991. The next morning, the couple met with President Fernando Collor de Mello and First Lady Rosane. Then they traveled to Pará to see the Carajás Project, a landmark in mineral exploration, and the Vale Zoobotanical Park. On the same day, they returned to the capital and attended a reception at the Itamaraty Palace.
On April 24, 1991, Diana traveled to São Paulo, where, among other appointments, she visited a FEBEM unit and picked up an HIV-positive baby. The same day she and her husband left for Rio de Janeiro, where most of the official events were held.
