Kayky Brito completes a week sedated and on mechanical ventilation

Actor Kayky Brito spent a week sedated and on a ventilator after being seriously hit last Saturday (9/2) while trying to cross a street in Rio de Janeiro. The new medical bulletin, released by the Copa D’Or Hospital, updated the artist’s state of health, which remains stable and unchanged.

“The Copa D’Or Hospital informs that the patient Kayky Fernandes Brito remains sedated and subjected to mechanical ventilation, with his clinical condition under control and without changes in the last 24 hours,” reads the statement.

Kayky Brito suffered multiple fractures throughout her body and a head injury. Since your admission you have already undergone two surgeries: one for the fracture of your pelvis and the other on your right arm.

The accident

The collision occurred in the early hours of September 2 on Avenida Lucio Costa, located in Barra da Tijuca, west of Rio de Janeiro. The 34-year-old actor suffered polytrauma and traumatic brain injury.

Security camera videos show that Kayky ran from an unlit spot to cross the busy avenue, without looking at the traffic, and was hit by an app car.

The Military Police confirmed that the driver Diones Coelho da Silva had not consumed alcohol at the time of the accident and provided immediate assistance to the victim. Without fault and with the car damaged, he raised public awareness with an appeal about his lack of conditions to cover the costs of the accident and ended up receiving around R$180,000 in an online fundraiser.
