The bassist of Ultraje a Rigor was hit in the head on Saturday 2nd in Paraty
The musician Rinaldo Oliveira Amaral, better known as Mingau, began to reduce his sedatives. The bassist of the band Ultraje a Rigo is hospitalized in serious condition after being shot in the early hours of Saturday 2nd, in Paraty, Rio de Janeiro.
“A process of gradual reduction of sedation has been started. The patient remains sedated, under mechanical ventilation and receives clinical support to control intracranial pressure. The clinical conditions remain serious”, reads the bulletin released by the São Luiz do Itaim Hospital, by Rede D’O.
Last Tuesday, doctors determined that the bullet that hit the bassist passed through the skull and passed through the area of motor functions. “The bullet penetrated the skull in the left frontal region, it was not retained inside the skull, it probably pierced itself and was lost in the environment where the accident occurred,” reported neurosurgeon Manuel Jacobsen, during a press conference held at São Luiz Hospital. in Itaim Bibi, West Zone of Sao Paulo, where the musician is hospitalized.
According to him, there were no bullet residues inside the skull, with no signs of entry and exit. The area affected by the projectile is responsible for motor, language and visual functions. Doctors underline, however, that it is not possible to make a prognosis on possible sequelae.
“It is difficult to establish a prognosis due to the biodynamic conditions. Future interventions may be necessary. Only time will tell […] It is a serious condition, but we have to wait time. Neurology depends a lot on the skills of the neurosurgeon, on the care in intensive care, but it depends a lot on the individual conditions of each person”, highlighted Jacobsen.
