In an excerpt from the broadcast shared on X (the old Twitter), Taylor appears showing the broken ring to a security guard while employees at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey search for the diamond. It seems that the precious stone in the center of the ring that the singer was wearing fell while she, very excited, attended the ceremony.

According to People magazine, the gold ring is a vintage onyx and diamond piece by Van Cleef & Arpels, worth $12,000, approximately R$59,000. The ring is sold by the jewelry company Joseph Saidian & Sons, which also supplied jewelry Little Rexha AND Saweetie for the VMAs.

In the video it was not clear whether the singer had managed to recover the piece or not.
