Sophia Loren was rushed to hospital on Sunday (24/9) after suffering a domestic accident in Geneva, Switzerland. The Italian actress and singer suffered multiple fractures and underwent surgery to repair the damage. The information was provided by The Hollywood Reporter.
Loren fell in the bathroom at home, causing several fractures to his hip and another serious fracture to his femur. A close source said the 89-year-old artist is accompanied by her sons, Carlo and Edoardo, in hospital.
The news was also confirmed by Sophia Loren’s Italian restaurant chain. “A fall in her home in Geneva resulted in Ms. Loren’s hip fracture. Following the successful surgery, she will now have to undergo a short period of convalescence followed by a rehabilitation process [fisioterapia]”, we read in the post made on Instagram.

On Tuesday (9/26), restaurant chain Sophia Loren will open its fourth location in Bari, Southern Italy. The artist was expected to be present at the inauguration of the new space, but this will not happen due to the accident. “The entire team at Sophia Loren Restaurant takes this opportunity to wish you a speedy recovery,” the franchise said.
Loren should also have received honorary citizenship of the Italian city, but had all commitments canceled until her rehabilitation. The actress’s last appearance was at the Armani fashion show on September 2, during the 80th Venice Film Festival.
