On Monday, 13, actor Hugh Jackman tested positive for covid-19 a day after performing at the Tony Awards ceremony. The announcement was made by the actor himself in a video shared on social media.
“I wanted you to know from me that I sadly tested positive again for Covid-19,” said Jackman. This is the second time the actor has been diagnosed with the disease.
In December last year, Hugh was removed from the musical. The man of musicwhich sees him starring on Broadway, after testing positive for the new coronavirus.
The actress Sutton FosterSharing the stage with the star was also diagnosed with the disease a few days earlier. The shows were canceled for five days.
This time, however, the actor will be replaced by an alternate, Max Clayton. In the video, Jackman praised Max and thanked all the substitutes who perform on Broadway.
“Max and I have been working together on the show for over two years and I can say from rehearsing with him and experience that he is absolutely extraordinary,” he said.
“This is another reminder to me and I will say it a million times: the true heroes of Broadway are our replacements. They make sense of the phrase ‘The show must go on’, and it will,” continued Hugh.
The actor also added that, as soon as he can, he will return to the stage with the musical. Jackman competed for the third time at the Tony Awards for the role of Harold Hill The man of musicbut in the end he didn’t take the prize home.
