The “Friends” star Matthew Perry has died at 54 this Saturday, October 28, causing a stir in the world of entertainment worldwide.

The Emmy-nominated actor is remembered for his sarcastic, but adorable character Chandler Bing from the hit series.

The artist was found dead apparently drowned at his home in Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Times and the website TMZ. Both media outlets cited unnamed sources who confirmed the death.

“There were no signs of criminal activity” highlighted the Los Angeles Times, which reported that the Los Angeles Police Department’s “robbery and homicide” division is investigating the death. Obviously no drugs were found either in the place.

TMZ clarified that no criminal activity was allegedly involved. Sources interviewed said lifeguards were called to the residence care for someone in cardiac arrest.

The stormy life of Matthew Perry after the success of “Friends”

Perry has been open about his longtime and public fight addiction and wrote at the beginning of his memoir, which sold millions in 2022.

“Hi, my name is Matthew, although you may know me by another name. My friends call me Matty. And I should be dead“.

When ‘Friends’ aired.which aired from 1994 to 2004, the actor’s battle with addiction and intense desire to please audiences was unknown.

“Friends was huge. I couldn’t risk it.. I liked the script. I loved my co-stars. I liked the scripts. I loved everything about the show,” he wrote in his memoirs.

“But I was struggling with my addictions.which only increased my sense of shame,” she admitted.

“He had a secret and no one could find out”he revealed, “I felt like I was going to die if the live audience wasn’t laughing, and that’s definitely not healthy.”

“But sometimes I could say a line and the audience wouldn’t laugh and I’d sweat too sometimes he had seizures“Perry acknowledged what he experienced firsthand during the tapings of the hit show.

“If I didn’t laugh like I should, it scared me, I felt that every night. This pressure left me in a bad position. “I also knew that of the six people who did this program, only one of them was sick,” he said.

In his book, the actor recalled that his co-star, Jennifer Aniston, confronted him about being drunk on set.

“I know you drink”she remembers him once telling her, “we can smell it.”

Perry called it “kind of a weird, but tender way, and the plural ‘we’ hit me like a sledgehammer.”

In the foreword to Matthew Perry’s memoir, Lisa Kudrow described him as “intelligent, charming, sweet, sensitive, very logical and reasonable.”

He added: “This guy, with everything I was struggling withwas still there.”

Matthew Perry was born on August 19, 1969 in Williamstown, Massachusetts. Her father is actor John Bennett Perry and her mother, Suzanne, was press secretary to Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and is married to “Dateline” correspondent Keith Morrison.
