Sheynnis Palacios, from Nicaragua, was crowned the new Miss Universe at the 72nd edition of the pageant held in El Salvador on November 18. This is the first victory for the Central American country.

There were 85 participants, however, hours before the coronation it was reported that Qia Jia, the representative of China, was out of the competition due to a delay in the delivery of documents that prevented her from arriving on time.

The remaining 84 went through the elimination process until three finalists remained: Anntonia Porsild of Thailand, Moraya Wilson from Australia, who came in second place, and Sheynnis Alondra Palacios Cornejo from Nicaragua, the latter was the winner.

R’Bonney Gabriel, Miss Universe 2022, very excitedly presented the prestigious crown to Sheynnis Palacios.

John Legend was responsible for enlivening the evening with his talent as the contestants paraded around the stage, once in their evening gowns, while in his second performance he accompanied the three finalists on his piano.

The Miss Universe 2023 crown is the most expensive in history

Sheynnis Palacios was crowned “Power of God,” which was built by the Mouawad company and is valued at $5.3 million.

“The tiara contains 48.12 carats of diamonds and 108.44 carats of sapphires. It has 993 gems spread across the front and back,” reports Infobae.

Anne Jakapong Jakrajutatip is the owner of the Miss Universe franchise, she acquired the 2020 beauty pageant for $20 million through her company JKN Global Group. The transgender woman is originally from Thailand and is 44 years old.
