Photographer Lucas Bento claims to have been attacked by musician Jorge Ben Jor on the night of Sunday 26th, upon arrival at Santos Dumont airport, in Rio de Janeiro. The boy filed a complaint against the singer at a police station in Rio and the police are investigating what happened.
Lucas works for a paparazzi agency, and was at the airport around 9.30pm to record the landing of an actress, as he reported to Lucas Pasin’s column on the portal UOL. While working, he was allegedly “attacked” by Jorge Ben Jor. OR Earth He contacted Jorge Ben Jor’s press office, but received no response. The space remains open for demonstrations.
The photographer said he was looking at the camera and felt someone grab him by the neck. The singer said he shouldn’t have taken photos. The boy tried to warn him that he wouldn’t take photos of him, but it was no use.
A few minutes later, other people at the scene noticed the commotion and Jorge let go of the photographer’s neck, heading towards a taxi stand.
“He insulted me in front of everyone at the airport, at work. There were marks from the attack on my neck,” Lucas said.
The photographer said that, initially, he did not recognize Jorge Ben Jor, and was frightened by the violent approach. Subsequently he understood who the attacker was and freed himself from the situation.
“I don’t have any photos of him. He wasn’t even close to the actress I photographed, he was just in the same place. I hadn’t even seen him or pointed my camera at him,” he added.
In a note to Earth, the Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro reported that the case was registered with the 5th DP (Mem de Sá). Security camera footage will be requested and officers are looking for witnesses. The singer will be summoned to provide clarifications and according to the police other steps are underway to clarify all the facts.
