The American actress links the decision to an “act of love to protect them”
American actress Paris Hilton, 42, revealed in an interview with the website Romper why she and her husband, Carter Reum, chose to have their children through surrogacy. The two are parents to 10-month-old Phoenix and newborn London.
The choice, according to her, was motivated by post-traumatic stress resulting from the sexual abuse she suffered during her adolescence in boarding school. She says she has panic attacks when she goes to doctors’ offices due to traumatic experiences she has had in the past.
“I knew it wouldn’t be healthy for them or for me, growing up with someone who has such a high level of anxiety,” the actress said justifying her choice of surrogacy.
In the documentary This is Parisavailable on YouTube, the actress also revealed that she was a victim of physical and emotional abuse during the 11 months she studied in Provo Canyon, Utah, United States.
