The party broke away from traditions and was a way to “celebrate one’s existence”, according to the birthday boy
Last Saturday, 9th, Pedro Henrique he became the first boy to debut at the luxury Copacabana Palace hotel, which celebrated its centenary in August. The resident of Barra da Tijuca, Rio de Janeiro, received around 400 guests with great fanfare in the Golden and Nobre rooms of the Copa.
According to the young man’s mother, the teacher Viviane Moraes, Pedro has always been inspired by his sister. “When he made his debut, he was very young. But he really enjoyed participating in the whole process and also in the party itself. My profession contributes, every day, to having a more plastic vision of thinking about today’s young people,” he said to the newspaper. The globe.
Viviane recently studied psychology, and a new subject made her broaden her perspective and, faced with her son’s request to organize a fifteenth birthday party like his sister and some friends, she asked herself: why not? “This topic is called gender, race and sexuality relations. This has broadened my view of structural racism and many other issues. It should be mandatory for both new and old generations. It would help many parents understand their children. Avoiding a lot of conflicts that sometimes end up prevailing over love,” he reflects.
“I am aware that it is not just me, it is not just me. Others would like to do the same. On the occasion of my fifteenth birthday, I would like every young gay man, suburban or otherwise, effeminate or not, to know that you can and should celebrate your existence. Wherever and how you want. But I know that’s not reality, I know my privileges,” the debutante said.
The birthday boy preferred not to dance the traditional waltz. “I don’t identify with waltz, I wanted something more modern. Things I really listen to, like Pabllo Vittar, Glória Groove and almost every kind of rhythm,” he says, who hired rapper Chefin and Dj Bhaskar, brother of Dj Alok, as party attractions.
Pedro rocked the event by dancing to American Beyoncé’s hits wearing trousers and a leather crop top, complemented by a blazer. The pieces were custom made by renowned designer Patricia Viera.
According to the debutante’s mother, he was free to wear whatever clothes he wanted, including a dress. “She didn’t want it, but if she had wanted it there would have been no problems. The theme of this party is to demonstrate that everyone can be what she wants”, explained Viviane. The decoration also deviated from the traditional, using black and mirrors.
During the party, Pedro Henrique’s uncle, Joel, gave a short speech. “You’re a wonderful guy. I love you, your family loves you, your friends here just love you. That’s what matters, no more hypocrisy,” he said. The father of the birthday boy, the entrepreneur from Bahia Marcos dos Santoshe preferred not to talk, but he was one of the liveliest on the dance floor.
