According to the PF, the teams discovered during the investigations that the system involved the fraudulent issuing of invoices by companies authorized to sell chemicals in São Paulo, using “oranges” for cash deposits, as if they were employees of large multinationals . These people would be victims who appeared as buyers.
The police identified 60 transactions involving this organization, all fake, totaling approximately 12 tons of chemicals, such as phenacetin, acetone, diethyl ether, hydrochloric acid, mannitol and ethyl acetate. According to the PF this corresponds to more than 19 tonnes of cocaine and crack ready for consumption.
The investigations also reveal that various methodologies were used to hide and mask the illicit origin of the sums received, such as intermediaries, or ‘front men’, and fictitious companies. According to the newspaper Cariani is one of the suspects of being part of the criminal group The globe.
The suspects could be charged with similar trafficking, association with the aim of dealing, as well as the crime of money laundering. Penalties can exceed 35 years in prison.
The action was conducted by the Federal Police, in collaboration with the Special Action Group for the Fight against Organized Crime (Gaeco do MPSP) of São Paulo and the Federal Revenue Agency.
