Samba player Quinho do Salgueiro was 66 years old and battling cancer

This Wednesday, Quinho do Salgueiro he died, aged 66, due to respiratory failure. The Rio artist had a long career in the samba school, which began in mourning for the loss of him.




The samba singer had been battling cancer since 2022 and was hospitalized at the Evandro Freire hospital, on Ilha do Governador, in Rio de Janeiro. Several artists paid tribute to the artist with such an expressive voice.

On Instagram, Salgueiro’s team wrote in his memory: “Quinho didn’t just sing for Salgueiro; he lived and breathed every note, every beat of the beating heart of the drums. He personified the spirit of Salgueiro and his absence leaves an indescribable void. Today, we don’t just mourn the loss of a great artist We mourn the passing of a dear member of our family.”

The Salgueiro test this Thursday 4th has been canceled and a day of tributes will be held there. The samba singer’s funeral wake will be held on Friday 5th in Rio de Janeiro.
