Spotify renews “Batman Awakens”

The Spotify platform has announced the renewal of the “Batman Awakening” audio series.

The second season will once again see the English voices of Winston Duke (Bruce Wayne / Batman) and Hasan Minhaj (The Riddler). In Brazil, the roles were played by Rocco Pitanga (“Impuros”) and Augusto Madeira (“Bingo: O Rei das Manhãs”).

The project is part of an international agreement between Spotify, Warner Bros. and DC Comics, which aims to adapt DC’s vast library of iconic characters into Spotify’s new podcasts around the world.

Written by David S. Goyer, author of the Batman trilogy directed by Christopher Nolan, the plot of the first season revolved around a serial killer known as The Grim Reaper, who terrorizes Gotham City without Batman appearing to save the city. It’s just that, in this complex story, Bruce Wayne doesn’t remember once being the hero. Instead, he works as a forensic pathologist and, after escaping a Reaper attack, undergoes therapy with a strange psychologist named Dr. Hunter (comic fans don’t know him by another name?).

In this Batman-less Gotham, Barbara Gordon will need the help of Gotham’s second smartest detective, known as The Riddler.

Daniel Rezende (director of “Turma da Mônica: Lições”) and Marina Santana (sound designer of “Lino: Uma Aventura de Sete Vidas”) will direct the adaptation, and the rest of the large national cast included Tainá Müller (Barbara Gordon), Adriana Lessa (Martha Wayne), Nill Marcondes (Thomas Wayne), Hugo Bonemer (Reaper), Carol Abras (Renne Montoya), José Rubens Chachá (Alfred), Marcelo Varzea (Dr. Hunter), Maria Bopp (Vicki Vale) and Camila Pitanga (Kell).
