Shakira was reportedly not sitting still after a man was arrested outside her Miami Beach home and later charged with allegedly harassing her.
On Jan. 8, when authorities revealed they arrested Daniel John Valtier, 56, of El Paso, Texas, after he arrived by taxi at the singer’s residence.
When he appeared before a judge in a local court, the accused was ordered held on $100,000 bail on the stalking charge and ordered to stay away from the artist, Univision 23 News and NBC News Miami reported.
However, Valtier assured that the distancing order would not work because the star “is his wife” and talks to her “all the time”.
Shakira is beefing up her security
A few days after what happened, the magazine Hola! reported that Shakira has reportedly decided to “immediately step up security measures around her mansion.”
The property is located on North Bay Road Drive and as of April 2023 the composer moved into it with her children, Milan and Sasha.
“Apparently, (she) has requested 24-hour surveillance and has two police patrols permanently stationed at the door of her home,” they clarified on the matter.
The media pointed out that it was the journalist Alex Rodríguez who explained this situation during his participation in the Spanish show “Vamos a ver”, on Friday, January 19.
“In this sense, it is added that although the arrested person is currently in prison, he could be released soon by paying a part of the bail that has been imposed on him,” they clarified.
The ‘Hips Don’t Lie’ singer’s priority would be to keep her children, who she had with Gerard Pique, safe.
After it became known what happened to Daniel John Valtier, the Spanish portal La Razón reported that “the environment” of the former soccer player said that he was “very worried about the situation his children are experiencing in Miami.”
It is alleged that the now businessman had already “communicated his anguish to his ex-partner”. However, he apparently “trusts that the Colombian’s security team is ready to prevent future mishaps.”
Shakira would like to live on a private island
In March of last year, before Shakira, Milan and Sasha moved to the so-called “City of the Sun”, Álex Rodríguez himself made it known that he supposedly wanted to live on a private island.
