The cancer-victim actress has built a solid career in television fiction without ever having been the protagonist

Hospitalized in a hospital in São Paulo, the artist died on Monday (29), at the age of 78, due to lung cancer. He leaves behind two children and a host of friends and admirers.

Until her teenage years, Jandira had never thought of becoming an artist. I was in favor of the idea of ​​training as a teacher. The contact with the amateur theater of Santos, where she was born, aroused her interest.

After a few performances, he wanted to improve himself: he entered the most respected actor training institute in the country, the EAD (School of Dramatic Art) of USP. He answered the call of the stage and has never stopped acting, writing and directing.

She was known – and respected – for the rigor with which she performed and with those who were willing to work with her. You said that every actor needs a solid foundation if he wants to build a career.

“Everything is a matter of study. Of course, the talent factor matters. It takes a little talent to do something, or a lot of talent,” Jandira told presenter José Maurício Machline on the program ‘Por Acaso’, on TVE (now TV Brasil), in 2003.

“Television creates actors overnight. But, in truth, to really tackle your career, to play a series of characters, you need a lot of grounding, a lot of studying, a lot of reading. Our young people today read very little. You have to study a lot to be successful.”

There is no better lesson. A learning experience that will never get old. Becoming famous quickly on TV is not that difficult. The tricky part, no doubt, is honing the talent, gaining respectability and delivering performances that are convincing enough to warrant staying in the vehicle. To achieve this goal, the search for knowledge and constant practice are essential.

Jandira Martini has engraved her name in the history of television drama with inspiring performances. We will always remember Teodora from ‘Sassaricando’, Zoraide from ‘Il Clone’, Odaléia from ‘América’ and many other women that the great actress brought to life in front of the camera.
