Media magnate and billionaire Rupert Murdoch and 65-year-old actress Jerry Hall are going to divorce, according to The New York Times. For the 91-year-old businessman, this is the fourth divorce. The reasons for the discord in the family are unknown. As the publication adds, the divorce will not affect the fortune of the billionaire, who is in the top 100 richest people in the world. The couple probably had a marriage contract.

Murdoch and Hall got married in 2016 – they announced the engagement in an article in The Times, which the businessman owns, on January 11, and they got married on March 4. The celebration took place at Spencer House in London a week before Rupert’s 85th birthday. And they exchanged vows at St. Brigid’s Church..

Murdoch’s first wife was stewardess Patricia Booker; they divorced in 1967, leaving a daughter, Prudence, from the marriage. With his second wife, Scottish journalist Anna Murdoch Mann, the billionaire was married from 1967 to 1999. In this marriage, three children were born: daughter Elizabeth and sons Lachlan and James. After 17 days, the businessman married again – to businesswoman Wendi Deng. They lived together for 14 years and divorced in 2014.

Forbes estimates Murdoch’s fortune at $17.6 billion. He is one of the 100 richest people in the world. In March 2019, the billionaire sold film and television studios Fox, FX, National Geographic Networks and his stake in Star India to Disney for $71.3 billion.

Among other things, Murdoch has stakes in Fox Corp (parent company of the Fox News channel) and News Corp (publisher of The Wall Street Journal). He manages assets through a family trust in Nevada, the trust itself owns 40% of the voting shares of News Corp and Fox Corp. The media mogul also partially owns the London newspaper Times.
