The rapper Killer Mike was handcuffed and escorted out of the Grammys 2024, held on Sunday the 4th in the United States. Second TMZ, the artist was arrested for a “physical altercation” with a security guard at the event. Simply put, he had some sort of physical confrontation with the award attendant. The reason for the confusion and the type of violence used were not detailed.
The same night, before being arrested by the authorities, Mike received the award for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for Scientists and engineersand best rap album for Michael (2023).
In a video released by reporter Chris Gardner, the musician appears escorted by security guards and, in the background, someone can be heard shouting: “Free Mike”, in clear Portuguese, something like: “Free Mike”.
Mike Lopez, police press officer, said this Washington Post that Killer Mike’s arrest was the result of a fight inside the event around 4 p.m. For this reason he was reported for a minor crime and released four and a half hours later. Mike is still due to appear in a Los Angeles court on February 29.
Hours after what happened, around 10pm, the rapper published a post on X, the old man Twitter.
“The only thing that limits your age is not being honest about your age or what you’re doing,” Mike, 48, said. “When I was 20 I thought it was cool to be a drug dealer. At the age of 40 I started to live with regrets and the things I had done. At 45 I started rapping about it. At 48, I stand here as a man full of empathy and sympathy for the things I’ve done,” he wrote.
