The Sao Paulo court has sentenced a man and his ex-wife to 3 years in an open regime for embezzlement. The former couple had an investment company that promised up to 8% profit per month and defrauded celebrities such as Juliana Paes and Murilo Rosa. The decision of Judge José Paulo Camargo Magano, of the 11th Criminal Court, Foro Central Criminal Barra Funda, was made on January 29. Four other defendants were found innocent and acquitted.
Also according to the sentence, the convicted will have to return R$ 460,000 to Juliana Paes; R$460 thousand to Murilo Rosa; R$280,000 to former footballer Luis Fabiano; R$84 thousand to the financial advisor of Juliana Paes and Murilo Rosa; and R$38,000 to another victim.
The coup took place in 2017. The investigations began only in 2019 and on January 29 the court ruled on the case. According to the investigation, the victims would have learned of the business through intermediaries and would have invested the money with the promise of a return on the purchase of used vehicles which would be resold with the excess fuel, offering a financial return. Believing it to be true, the victims invited more people, but there was never any vehicle.
