Two Mexican actors die during the filming of a Netflix series

Ray Garduño and Paco Mufote died during their transfer to the set of ‘El Elegido’, in Mexico.

    The actors Raymundo Garduño and Paco Mufote died last Thursday afternoon during the filming of a new series created by Netflix, ‘El Elegido’.

    The interpreters were being transferred along with other members of the team to the airport in Santa Rosalía, Mexico, when The van went off the road and rolled several times.. Garduño and Mufote died, while six other people (two interpreters and four production workers) remain hospitalized in a stable situation. This incident joins other recent terrible accidents on filming of superheroes.

    Paco Mufote, actor and musician, of more than thirty roles as a legacy, while Ray Garduño had developed a career parallel to acting as a cultural promoter and film director.

    The filming of the Netflix series has been paralyzed until the causes are clarified of the accident and the safety of all the crew on the set is guaranteed. The production company Redrum has opened an investigation, in contact with the American (SAG-AFTRA) and Mexican (ANDA) actor’s unions. The platform Netflix has not commented on the matter.

    The novelist Rick Zazueta, involved in the project, has denounced through social networks that “the cast had been complaining all this time about logistical problems because the cars were old, had worn tires, and even not all seat belts worked properly“.

    Netflix is ​​waiting to know what possible legal actions it will have to face.

    ‘The Chosen One’ is a series based on the comic created by Mark Millar (‘Kick-Ass’, ‘Jupiter’s Legacy’) and Peter Gross, in which a 12-year-old boy claims to be the second incarnation of Jesus Christ. The adaptation is part of Netflix’s deal with Millarworld, Mark Millar’s comic universe.
