The film, which turns 22 this Thursday (15th), is available on Netflix

This Thursday (15), the iconic film ‘Crossroads: Friends Forever’ turns 22 years since its launch. The film marked a historic moment in the career of Britney Spears, who appeared on the Hollywood screen for the first time.

Released in 2002, “Crossroads” was directed by Tamra Davis and written by Shonda Rhimes. In the film we follow the journey of three childhood friends – Lucy (Britney Spears), Kit (Zoe Saldana) and Mimi (Taryn Manning) – as they embark on a road trip across the United States. Each of them finds themselves in a complicated moment in their lives, facing insecurities and looking for answers.

As we said, among the protagonists of the film is Britney Spears, who made her acting debut playing Lucy, a provincial girl with the big dream of becoming a singer. According to the singer, the process of abandoning the character was very complicated after recording.

“The experience wasn’t easy for me. I didn’t have any problems with the people involved in the project, but rather with what acting had in mind. I think I started acting using the Method, but I didn’t know how to get out from my character”he vents in his book. “It’s embarrassing to say this, but it was like I had a cloud or something over me and I became this girl called Lucy. With the camera on, I was her, and so I couldn’t tell who was who, apart from or within the recording. I know it sounds ridiculous, but it’s the truth. I took it very seriously,” he also said.

Filled with emotional moments, catchy music and plenty of empowerment, “Crossroads” remains a beloved web classic that resonates with audiences of all ages. Do you want to watch? ‘Crossroads’ is available in the Netflix catalog. You won’t miss it!
