In 2020, Daniel was honored in the city with the construction of a statue in Praça do Vaporzinho. In the sculpture, the star was portrayed in life size, with the Brazilian team shirt and the ball at his feet. The work was sculpted by the artist Léo Santana.

With the rape conviction, residents of Juazeiro and the region are campaigning on social media to have the statue removed. On X, formerly Twitter, there are comments angry at the fact that the monument is still in place, one of the main symbols of the city.
“It’s time to destroy the statue of Daniel Alves on the outskirts of Juazeiro. It’s shameful,” said one internet user. “The people of Juazeiro are calling for the removal of the statue honoring Daniel Alves. I think it’s right! The time to pay homage to him is over!”, commented another user. “There is no reason to pay homage to a rapist anywhere, much less in the most important tourist spot in the city!”, another profile pointed out.
