Didi thought about her career when she received her Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards ceremony on Sunday.
The segment kicked off with star-studded hits naming the music superstar. These included Jodech’s “Come and Talk to Me”, Mary J. Blige’s “I’m Goin’ Down”, Puff Daddy’s “Victory”, Shine’s “Bad Boyz”, Puff Daddy’s “It’s All About Benjamins”, “I Need a Girl” (Part Two)” by P. Diddy, “Pass” by Busta Rhymes the Courvoisier, Part II”, “Gotta Move On” by Diddy and “I’ll Be Missing You” by Puff Daddy and Faith Evans.
Among the artists who took the medal stage were Big, Lil Kim, Blaige and many others. It also featured footage of Kim Porter, a great ex-partner, who died in 2018.
Before appearing on the big stage, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds gave an introduction, including a humorous anecdote about a star learning to ski. He concluded: “Don’t fall asleep in one breath. He’s a serious producer. ”
Kanye “Yeah” West, who wore a full face mask, also gave a speech and remembered listening to “Benjamin” over and over. “This is my favorite artist, see what I’m saying?” You said about the guest of honor. “Back then, there were so many rules of hip-hop and he broke them all.”

Finally, with great admiration, he took the stage with a speech by the host, where he thanked the figures of the formation and the previous years, including his mother, and also remembered Porter. “Stay with God and he will finish you,” he said. “I miss Kim so much.”
He paid tribute to a frequent employee of the Notorious BIG and called the late rapper “the best period”.
At the end of his speech, Didi said: “I have a dream that black people are free. I have this dream that we are in control of our own destiny. I have this dream, take responsibility and stop killing each other. I have this dream, to be rich and rich and live in the same building. I had this dream of getting together, not only to speak on stage, but also: we know our community and our allies. If you’re with us, don’t be silent. Insert money into the game. ”
The star went on to say that he donated $1 million to Howard University, the school where he attended.
In a previous statement, BET CEO Scott Mills praised him for being “a pioneering force in our society, breaking barriers, reaching unprecedented heights, forging new paths and thus raising the bar for all of us.”
Past honorees of the award have included Blige, Prince, Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah and Lionel Ritchie.
BET Awards, directed by Taraji P. Hanson directed, was broadcast live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on Sunday.
