“It no longer takes away my sleep. I take care of myself so that I can have a long life, as long as God wants. I have talked a lot with Him and I think I no longer have that anguish. Illness truly humanizes death. It really brings you closer and do a deconstruction,” he explained.

“When I had septicemia (sepsis), doing ‘chemo,’ it was a turning point, because I had a near-death experience, I was revived by doctors and I came back,” the singer added.

The singer also revealed that she had the support of her father, Gilberto Gil, in such a dramatic and delicate moment.

“I was still very fragile and he said: ‘connect with nature, life has an end, finiteness…’. He said many things that, at that moment, I didn’t understand. But in a very poetic, human and affective way , talked about me facing death, about the possibility that finiteness would come to me. And that I wasn’t afraid, but obviously I was terrified. But on those very difficult nights in the ICU, I connected with energy. We die just because we live,” he said.

We don’t have to talk about the other person’s body, whether it’s thin, fat, blue, yellow. We come from this deconstruction, I have been in this fight for many years and machismo affects us in a way that we, women, reproduce this machismo. They were created by a society that wants to limit women to a format, “An ideal. We have a lot of struggle ahead of us, we have not reached the ideal, but we have made progress”, celebrates Preta.

He also revealed that he plans to return to acting. “I’m available, yes. I’m a very mediocre actress, I’m quite clumsy. I think it’s because it’s something I’ve dedicated myself less to. But if they call me, I’ll do it. I’m brave. [risos]”, account.
