On October 22, 2025, the iconic romantic comedy Harry Met Sally returns to the big screen. Directed by Rob Reiner and written by Nora Ephron, the 1989 film humorously explored the relationships between men and women during Harry and Sally’s journey.

Over the years, they cross paths, bicker, bicker, befriend each other… until they discover that they could very well be made for each other.

When Harry Met Sally first introduced Meg Ryan to the general public: her interpretation of Sally quickly became iconic and opened the door to many romantic comedies in the 90s. In turn, Billy Crystal took advantage of this success to expand his horizons: he began directing, writing and producing films.

The film also became legendary thanks to a daring and contemporary scene at the time: the famous orgasm sequence. Over lunch at Katz’s Delicatessen in Manhattan, Harry and Sally have their usual conversation, this time about sexuality. This iconic series hides some memorable filming secrets. She was born to carry the film on Sally, who was very much overshadowed by Harry, and rightly so Nora Ephron who suggested the daring subject of orgasm.

Meg Ryan offered to perform it in public, but she was intimidated in front of the staff and crew. For her guidance, Rob Reiner even simulated an orgasm himself, which drew laughter and applause from the set. The final line, “I’ll have what he’s having,” was spoken by his mother, Estelle Reiner, and is now considered one of the 100 most memorable lines by the American Film Institute.

Equal parts hilarious, daring and liberating, this scene made Katz’s Delicatessen a must-see for fans and remains one of the most iconic moments in romantic comedy.
