The actress chose to leave the franchise in the sixth film after a controversy regarding her salary
Neve Campbell is back in the cast of “Scream” as the character Sidney Prescott, in the seventh film of the saga. The announcement was made by the actress herself on her social networks.
“My appreciation for these films and what they meant to me has never waned. I am very happy and proud to say that I have been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sydney back on screen and I couldn’t be more excited!!!”wrote the actress.
It is worth mentioning that Campbell had chosen to leave the slasher franchise after a controversy regarding his salary. According to her, at the time, the offer she was presented with “did not match the value” she brought to “Scream.”
In fact, this isn’t the only controversy involving the franchise as of late. This is because Melissa Barrera, who was one of the big characters in the fifth and sixth films, was removed from the new film. The decision was made by the team after the actress took a stand on social media regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Finally, it is worth pointing out that the seventh “Scream” film will be directed by Kevin Williamson, responsible for the screenplays of the first four films in the series.
“Kevin is not only an inspiration as an artist, but also a dear friend for many years. To the amazing fans of Scream, I hope you are as excited as I am. See you on set”concluded Neve Campbell.
