Shannen Doherty has revealed that as she continues her battle with stage 4 breast cancer, she is preparing herself in case she dies.
The 52-year-old actress, popular for her appearance on the series ‘Beverly Hills 90210’, admitted that the fight to regain her health prompted her to ‘take stock’ of her existence.
Shannen Doherty gets rid of her stuff in case she dies
Shannen Doherty has shared that she is giving away and selling her possessions in a bid to make things easier for her mother, Rose Elizabeth, if she is unable to overcome her illness.
“My priority right now is my mother, I know it’s going to be hard for her if I die first,” he said on the April 1 episode of the Let’s Be Clear podcast.
“Because it’s going to be so hard for her, I want other aspects to be a lot easier. “I don’t want him to have too many items to deal with,” she added.
The interpreter acknowledged that she does not intend for her mother to be confused about what to do with “four storage units full of furniture” if she is gone.
Deciding to move all the furniture and leave his Tennessee residence, Doherty said he felt like he had “given up” on his dream of building an animal rescue center and was “throwing in the towel” in his fight to beat the situation.
But after getting over the initial pain, she realized that she is doing “the right thing” as it will help the people she leaves behind “have a cleaner and simpler transition”.
Shannen Doherty longs to travel with her mom
The ‘Charmed’ star also admitted that profiting from the items will be good because then she can travel to different places with her mother and “build different memories”.
“I don’t need this, it really doesn’t bring me much happiness, but what gives me joy is taking my mom to the places she’s always wanted to go,” he said.
The best thing, he thinks, is that these “escapades” will be financed with resources other than those of his estate: “I’m not going to look for the money in my savings that will ensure the care of everyone in my life once I’m dead.”
In her story, she recalled that Mrs. Rose Elizabeth was moved when they visited Italy not long ago because “she had tears rolling down her face because she never thought she would see this.”
The artist admitted that reducing “junk” also works to her advantage: “I clean things to have a better quality of life.”
Shannen Doherty, who was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, revealed last year that it had metastasized and spread first to her brain and then to her bones.
