Miguel Ángel Cancel, former member of Menudo, suffered a accident that changed his life when he was a member of the police in the Tactical SWAT Unit
In December 2004, the official van the singer was traveling in overturned in Coral Gables, Florida, causing he lost two fingers on his left hand.
Miguel recalled the incident in a recent interview broadcast on the program “De Primera Mano” on May 2.
“I was working for the police in the tactical SWAT unit. On the way back to my house, there was an accident and well I lost part of my hand“.
The former Menudo explained that he had been in intensive care for several weeks.
” Thank God I’m alive because that (what happened to his hand) wasn’t the only thing, I got a brain injury, broken ribs, a punctured liver, I spent a month in the critical room.” He explained that he lost his thumb because of The index finger of his left foot was grafted.
Miguel shared that the traumatic situation he experienced was not an obstacle to “keep dreaming and setting goals.”
In 2014, Miguel Cancel shared that since he was little he wanted to be a police officer and he fulfilled it. However, despite the training they have, they are never prepared to face these types of situations.
“There’s nothing that prepares you in the police, you know that this or that could happen to me, but I didn’t think that car accident would end my career as a police officer“, he said on the show “Un Café Con Meche”.
Despite the adversity, the singer managed to move forward with the love of his loved ones and fans, which is why he discovered the positive side of the dramatic situation.
