Both had roses dipped in precious metals attached to their tailored pieces. A reference to a gift she gave Smith early in their relationship. How sweet!

Christian designed a white tuxedo for himself and a black one with a sheer chiffon skirt layered over for Sam. According to the designer, the inspiration for both looks came after reading JG Ballard’s short story, “The Garden of Time,” which is the official dress code for this year’s event.
“We immediately looked to old world tailoring, particularly Oscar Wilde. As for the choice of flora, I gravitated towards the English rose, something that celebrates our and Sam’s heritage. The roses are actually real red roses which have been dipped in 24K gold and sterling silver. These roses have been attached to the tailoring, forming a clasp,” Cowen explained to Vogue.
