The story of one photo: Elizabeth II and Anna Wintour at the Richard Quinn show

On February 19, 2018, something that no one expected happened: the Queen of Great Britain came to London Fashion Week. And not at a reception in her honor, but at the Richard Quinn brand show. It was a surprise to everyone – her visit was not announced in advance. So Elizabeth decided to encourage the first winner of her own award for her contribution to the development of British fashion.

Moreover, Her Majesty was sitting in the front row hand in hand with the queen of the fashion world – the editor-in-chief of American Vogue Anna Wintour. Witnesses said that the latter was very worried:

Elizabeth – unlike the queen of gloss – was very relaxed, despite the fact that by the age of 92 this show was the first in her life.

On the other side of Elizabeth II sat the head of the British Fashion Council, Caroline Rush. The Queen watched the show very carefully and smiled all the time. And for the outing, she chose a pale blue Angela Kelly suit, black heels and black long gloves. But Wintour’s appearance was then severely criticized: Internet users, as one, asked: why didn’t she make an exception for the queen herself and take off her dark glasses?
