Omar Gelles, Colombian composer, singer and accordionist, author of the hit “The Paths of Life”, died at the age of 57 this Tuesday, May 21.
The artist, who was king of Vallenato in 1989, died at the Erasmo clinic in Valledupar, a city considered the world capital of said music, after a heart problem.
According to the first information, Gelles would have suffered a heart attack while playing a tennis match.
For a few weeks now, his health has been worrying his followers. It wasn’t until April 29 that the singer-songwriter had to be checked into a clinic in Miami, Florida.
According to what was known at the time, Gelles was performing a musical performance when he suddenly collapsed on stage.
The emergency arose due to severe pain in the chest and arms. And the star suffered from high blood pressure (hypertension).

After the death was announced, condolences began to circulate in the music world.

The death was also mourned by Carlos Vives, who remembered him in addition to being a musician as a “talented actor” with whom he shared some TV series about Vallenato artists.
