Guatemalan authorities found the singer and content creator’s body this Saturday, May 25 Jorge Sebastián Pop Chocoj, better known as Farruko Popfive days after the disappearance was reported.
What is known about the alleged murder of Farruko Pop
Pop, 18, he was found buried lifeless in a house in the northern region of Guatemala City, the Public Ministry (Prosecutor’s Office) confirmed.
The remains of the singer were found in that area of the Guatemalan capital known for high rates of violence and the presence of gangs.
Farruko Pop showed signs of violence and died of strangulation, according to the report of the National Institute of Criminological Sciences of Guatemala. The AP agency reported that he “would have died four to six days ago.”
The alleged crime has shocked the country to the point that Bernardo Arévalo, the president of Guatemala, has spoken out about it.
“I want to send my deepest condolences to the family of young Sebastián ‘Farruko’ Popknown on social networks for his dream of becoming a singer, a dream shared by many young people in our country,” the president wrote to X.

Who was Farruko Pop?
The victim was popular on social media for his comedy and musical content.
In addition, he had recently participated in a TV talent show. According to People en Español and the AP agency, he had participated in auditions for reality show ‘The Academy’ by the TV Azteca Guate network.
Pop came from the department (province) of Alta Verapaz, in northern Guatemala, an area with high rates of poverty.
